Cleaning House eBook Barry Kalb Reviews
First I have to admit I know Barry Kalb and was at the coming out party for this book whenI lived in Hong Kong. That said, this is a great book and a fun read. Having lived through the SARS crisis in Hong Kong (and the book came out right in the middle of that crisis) adds an extra touch of enjoyment to the idea of God wiping out 20-30 percent of the Earth's population by an unknown disease. Add to that the fun that Kalb had making up names for his characters. And top that off with a Black Pope from a war-torn African country.
Again it is fun and well worth the time. In fact I am doing a third read of the book right now just for the fun of it.
This has to be the funniest book I have ever read. Barry Kalb has a go at everyone and everything; nothing is sacrosanct and he is probably going to Hell, at least as far as his Accidental Pope is concerned. Wonderful characters with bizarre names which are so ridiculous that they have probably already become popular, especially among the babbling Catholic masses of the Third World. I have often day-dreamed of being given Godly powers to off the Evil of this world but BK has drafted the ultimate blueprint. A pity that God has not read it.
Many probably have thought about what the world would like and react should God decide to clean house. Kalb takes the reader on a well wriiten, humorous journey into God"s plan of action to set things right in the world. His characters and their funny strange names provide a lot of fun along the way. And just when you think things will turn out --- well, there is a surprise ending. And eating a custard cone will never be the same.
This was great read.I am still laughing every time I remember the names and situations.I actually had to put the book(kindle)down as I was laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face.On top of all that it gave me a lot of searious thing to reflect on.I am a big fan of Barry Kalb the writer and also the man himself.
